Chapter Philanthropy

Gamma Kappa organizes two philanthropy events a year. In the Fall, the sisters turn the Kappa Kappa Gamma house on campus into a coffeehouse for Kappaccino. There is live music, refreshments from the local coffee shop, and homemade baked goods from the sisters. The money raised from the event goes to the Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation and our national philanthropy, Reading is Fundamental.

In the Spring, Gamma Kappa sponsors Kamp Kappa. There is music, free food, and all the sisters come out and help to make the event a success. On top of raising money through tickets to Kamp, we also sell raffle tickets for gift cards and gift baskets. The money earned from the event goes to a charity that is close to the hearts of the chapter. Each year, we vote on which charity to send the money to. This most recent year, 2019, Gamma Kappa donated the money to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Because campus was closed for the second half of the 2020 spring semester, we were unfortunately unable to host Kamp Kappa. Instead, we wanted to focus our efforts on helping those who were in need during the pandemic. We had an online fundraiser to benefit the Center for Disaster Philanthropy's COVID-19 relief fund, which was sending aid to both patients and medical professionals in over 120 countries worldwide.
